Heartland Ministries Radio...
Heartland Ministries, Inc.,
is a non-profit, non-stock Kentucky corporation (501(c)3). We
exist with the purpose of encouraging the body of Christ. Since
1988, Christian radio has been the focus of this ministry.
On June 19,
1989, our first station, WVHM 90.5 FM, went on the air with a format of
southern gospel music and Bible teaching programs featuring
nationally-known and local pastors. In 1995, WVHM added it's
first translator in Madisonville, KY, operating at 94.9 MHz.
Shortly thereafter, WVHM added it's second translator in Central City,
KY at 103.5 FM. In early 1999 WVHM added it's third translator,
107.7 FM in Union City, TN.
In the mid-1990s, Heartland Ministries
received a construction permit for a brand new radio station with a CCM
format. WAAJ-FM a/k/a "The J-FM" went on the air on
November 16, 1996, offering listeners a
Christian Hit Radio (CHR) format.
WTRT-FM 88.1 "Truth
88" was the third station added to our roster in December
1998. WTRT serves primarily Marshall, Calloway, and Graves counties. The station has an
inspirational/praise and worship format.
On April 19,
2004, 90.1 WHMR
in Ledbetter/Paducah went on the air.
Our Mission Statement
Chapter 4, verse 8 of Paul's letter
to the Philippians says, "Finally, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is right, whatever is of
good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of
praise, let your mind dwell on these things."
Therefore, we believe that "it matters
what you listen to." That's our motto, slogan, battle
cry, whatever you want to call it. So, twenty-four hours a day,
seven days a week, 365 days a year, Heartland Ministries, Inc. provides
encouragement to the body through Christian radio with formats that
include southern gospel, Christian hit radio, and praise &
inspirational music and teaching... all listener supported... all to the
glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Future...
Well, Jesus is coming back!
...until then we will press on, lifting up Jesus all day, every day and
growing according to His purpose.
